We provide courses for
you where you can learn to skydive or have a tandem skydive if you just
want to jump once to see what skydiving is like. Inclusive in your
tandem skydive is your membership to the Australian Parachute
Federation, your third party liability insurance, all the equipment and
training required, the skydive of course and memories that last a
lifetime.
If you would like accommodation with the tandem skydive, ask us about
our package deals with local accommodation providers.
Yes! In fact if you come with a group of five or more
tandem skydivers we will give you a free video. 10 or more and we offer
you a free tandem skydive. All group members receive a free BBQ!
You need to allow at least three
hours from the time of your planned check in to the time of your
departure at the completion of your skydive. Please advise your friends
& family who may wish to share the experience with you of this 3 hour
time frame. Further delays may occur due to weather.
After arriving at the skydiving centre, you will be required
to fill out some paperwork, we will take you through a safety briefing, your instructor will brief
you on the jump, fit you with a jumpsuit and a harness, then we'll go skydiving. Your video will be made on the day.
The tandem skydiving process takes approximately 3 hours and is
subject to weather conditions - so it's best to allow half a day.
If you want to learn to skydive and jump more than once,
we suggest you do the course. Or if you just want to see what skydiving is like, and think you want to only jump once, then the tandem skydive is best for you.
From 8 am till sunset, seven days a week, weather
permitting. First jump courses
and progressive skydiving training is run on demand.
Skydiving is for everyone, however in order to meet our
strict safety standards we have certain restrictions. You will need
to be:
- 14 years or over (14-18) years parental/guardian consent is required)
- we need to be advised if over 95kg
- not at risk of having a heart attack
- not pregnant
We may need to ask you some basic questions about your health. Should
you have any doubts it is best to consult your doctor.
We have comfortable goggles designed to be worn over glasses and contact
lenses.
Yourself. Runners or trainers are a
must. Please, no boots. We provide all skydiving equipment.
We suggest you wear
comfortable clothing.
You may also like to bring a camera, and refreshments, perhaps a bottle of champagne to celebrate your
jump.
Yes, it is
preferable, you should eat
normally to maintain your sugar levels to meet the demands of your
adrenalin rush!
Spectators are more than welcome. It's exciting for them to share
the experience with you. Bring a picnic and take advantage of our
free barbecue facilities and the seafood outlet at our Barwon Heads location.
Spectators can also experience joy flights along the Great Ocean Road
and aerobatic flights over Barwon Heads.
Video/DVD's prices are found on our prices page. They are all professionally edited and come guaranteed
to be better than our competitors or they're free. They are a 6 minute
production of you with no advertising material, mixed
to natural sound and sound tracks. They are world class!
Video/DVD's are usually made on the day and you'll usually get them within
an hour of your jump, otherwise we'll post them out to you.
The course involves 2 days of training and you jump on the second day
(weather permitting). You'll be trained as if you were jumping by yourself.
You'll use the tandem system on stage 1 to confirm that you can do the skydive
and receive a canopy handling lesson. It is a progressive way of
learning and is recognised by the Australian Parachute Federation as an
approved course.
From stage 2, you
will be jumping with your own parachute system and pulling your own
ripcord. Unlike a tandem skydive, you'll be responsible for maintaining a stable
body position, reading your altimeter, pulling your ripcord, checking
the parachute, and flying and landing the parachute. It makes common sense
really, it's just like learning to drive: you don't get in a car right after a theory lesson expecting to be able to drive, and skydiving is the same.
After successfully passing stage 1, you go up with 2 jump masters
(one on either side) and we teach you how to fly forward across the
sky, just like in the movies. From there on you learn how to do turns
and back loops, "tracking" and "docking".
The course is recognised internationally and once you've completed it, you receive an international skydiving licence,
and you can go skydiving anywhere in the world. Also, because we are
approved by the Australian Parachute Federation, our courses are recognised
throughout Australia which means that you can jump at most of the other
Australian skydiving centres throughout your training.
We jump at two great locations. Into the city of Melbourne, at Royal
Park (just near the zoo) and at locations in the Barwon Heads/Torquay
area.
No, not for group bookings, just fill in the number of people skydiving
on the form where it says number of places. If the applicant is under
18 years of age and their parents are not attending the drop zone on
the day, they need individual forms to be signed and parents will be
contacted on the day to confirm.
E-mail Skydive City: skydive@theoffice.net.au or call the Drop Zone on
03 5254 1467, and we'll be more than
happy to answer your questions. |
